Packages from the app-emacs category or packages which have USE=emacs are activated in so-called site-init files, enabling the user to use a package right from his Emacs without much hassle. As those files cluttered the /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/ directory, we decided to put them in /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/site-gentoo.d/ with the current eclasses. The system is fully backwards compatible, but we will likely remove it a years time, so remerge all packages that collaborate with GNU Emacs or use the script emacs-updater (found in app-admin/eselect-emacs-1.3-r1).
