GNU Emacs upstream recently changed line movement behaviour for 23 that stirred up quite some controversy. The Gentoo Emacs team feels a bit uneasy about it and thinks about changing upstream's default behaviour to the old one: One line up means one logical line not visual (think of line wrapping at the end of your screen). But we like to know your opinion about it, so we opened a vote on the Gentoo Fora and would like all GNU Emacs users to participate.

I feel this new behavior to be wrong, but I have to admit that I don't use emacs that much after the the drop of lesstif, as the gui don't work well for me without it, so it's vim that has taken over.

I think gentoo should stick with what ever the emacs upstream decides as to not introduce a bunch of gentoo specific changes. If anyone has a problem with this new behaviour they should take that up with upstream.

I agree with what "3" said.
No matter if the new behaviour is "better" or "worse" that should be an issue with upstream not with gentoo itself.
