media-sound/cmus is a curses-based (text mode) music player which supports a lot of formats, like MP3, OGG, FLAC, Musepack, Mikmod and more. Although it not a "big" software as Amarok or Banshee, it has quite some nice features, as it is scriptable and can be controlled by commands over a network and even stream. At the moment it is only available for x86, but try it on your platform and request a keyword for it.
Today I bumped it to version 2.1.0 which freshly supports Mikmod, AAC and MP4...unfortunately, I have to disable AAC and MP4, as cmus requires version 2.5 of media-libs/faad2 which is not in the tree. That is no sign of laziness from the sound devs but, as flameeyes stated, a license problem. Write an email to Nero to help change that state, all details to be found in the given blog entry.
